As part of the Artful Ways project, Multicultural Cumbria are launching in-person Dance Carousel dancing sessions.
Dance Carousel is a project which brings people together in person to learn dances from around the world. The project provides a female only environment to encourage women from Black, Asian and ethnic minority groups and of all backgrounds to get involved.
Over lockdown the sessions had continued online. Now, in connection with Artful Ways, the team is going to run in-person Dance Carousel sessions in the grounds of University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus.
Multicultural Cumbria have planned women only Dance Carousel sessions on 11th and 18th July, 12-2pm in the grounds of the University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus.
There will be an outdoor dance session led by dance tutors. Everyone will be encouraged to play with ideas and collaborate to create a unique piece of choreography. There will be the chance to be part of a film of the event which will be submitted to the Artful Ways touring exhibition.
If you would like to get involved in Artful Ways in another way, please get in touch with us. An Artful Way is open to interpretation, it can be a journey to a cultural venue, or it could be a conversation with people online. Your creative response to the journey may be anything from sculpture to dance, from cooking to painting or basket weaving! You can do anything that inspires you.
